UNSW Gateway Program Incursions Inspire Stage 6 Students
Salamah College welcomed representatives from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for two engaging incursions designed for our Stage 6 students. Separate sessions were held for Year 11 and Year 12 students, providing valuable insights into university pathways, degree options, and opportunities available through the UNSW Gateway Program (3 June 2026).
The sessions began with introductions from the UNSW representatives, who shared their educational journeys, university experiences, and career pathways. Students gained firsthand insight into the many routes that can lead to higher education and future success.
Year 11 students participated in an interactive strengths-based activity, reflecting on their personal qualities and discussing these strengths with their peers. Year 12 students took part in the “Conversations That Matter” activity, prompting meaningful discussion about their goals, aspirations, and plans beyond school.
Students were introduced to the UNSW Gateway Program through a presentation and video. They learned about degree pathways, eligibility requirements, and the difference between Early Offers and Early Conditional Offers. Particular interest was generated by the program’s ability to reduce ATAR requirements by up to 15 points for eligible students.
The UNSW representatives also outlined alternative entry pathways, including the UNSW College Diploma and University Preparation Program, as well as scholarships and support initiatives such as the UNSW Advantage Award, Gateway Award, and Equity Scholarships.
Students were further introduced to Gateway on-campus experiences and the online learning hub, which provide opportunities to explore university life and develop academic readiness.
Salamah College extends its sincere thanks to the UNSW representatives for delivering two highly engaging and informative sessions that empowered students to make informed decisions about their future studies and careers.
