Salamah College Australia Introduces Umrah Trip to Students

Australia - On Friday, May 23, 2025, Salamah College hosted a special assembly to commemorate the recent Umrah trip undertaken by its male students. The event was a wonderful opportunity for the students to reflect on their journey and share their experiences with their peers.

The assembly commenced with a beautiful recitation from the Qur'an, setting a serene and contemplative tone for the occasion. This was followed by a heartfelt religious speech delivered by Secondary School Deputy Principal, Sheikh Mahmoud Alwan whose words provided valuable insights and reflections on the significance of Umrah and its impact on the students' growth.

As part of the assembly, Mr Firas Alameddine, the School Acting Princial, and Sheikh Mahmoud Alwan, the Secondary School Deputy Principal, presented the awards to the students who participated in the Umrah trip, recognising their commitment and dedication to their faith. The ceremony was a meaningful way to acknowledge the students' experiences and the lessons they learned during their journey.

To make the event even more engaging, a video showcasing the students' Umrah trip was screened during the assembly. The video featured highlights from their travels, including their visits to holy sites and their spiritual experiences. This visual presentation allowed the students who didn't participate in the trip to gain a deeper understanding of the journey and its significance.

Overall, the special assembly was a great success, fostering a sense of community among the students. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the students' experiences and reinforce the importance of faith and spiritual growth.

Salamah College held the second parent seminar of the year. Our school Sheikh Mahmoud Alwan, highlighted the importance of instilling Islamic values at home by being strong role models—praying in congregation, attending lessons, honouring Islamic events, speaking well, and promoting Arabic language. This reonates with Imam ^Aliyy's explanation of the verse

يآيها الذين ءامنوا قوا أنفسكم وأهليكم نارا وقودها الناس والحجارة

Sheikh Mahmoud further discussed Hajj, its rulings, and its immense merit. Additionally, he reflected on the virtues of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, including the day of ^Arafah which are the most blessed days of the year, as Allaah swore by them in the Qur'aan:

{وَٱلْفَجْرِ وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍۢ وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ}

Parents were further reminded about the Udhiyyah and its merits.

We thank the parents who attended this week's seminar and we look forward to seeing you all in our next gathering in shaa Allaah.
